LONDON (Alliance News) – Compass Group PLC on Monday said it has paid the GBP1.00 billion special dividend to shareholders that was announced in May.
Compass shares were up 0.9% at 1,603.0 pence per share on Monday.
The catering and support services firm proposed the special dividend, equal to 61.0 pence per share, on May 10, after it said it enjoyed a solid first half that saw free cashflow generation rise 27% year-on-year.
Compass said the special dividend has been paid on Monday.
When the special dividend was declared, Compass reported that for the six months to March 31 it made a pretax profit of GBP831.0 million, up from GBP666.0 million in the same period the prior year. Revenue rose to GBP11.47 billion from GBP9.54 billion year-on-year. The company noted revenue benefited by over 15% from the translational effects of weaker sterling.
The company also proposed an interim dividend of 11.2p per share, up 5.7% from the prior year, in addition to the special payout.
