TOP NEWS: IMF Calls For Brexit To Be “Conducted Promptly”

WASHINGTON (Alliance News) – International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde is urging progress in Brexit talks to ease worries about the impact of Britain’s departure from the EU.

“Brexit is an ongoing process and our hope, frankly, is that it be conducted promptly in order to reduce the level of uncertainty and the anxiety of people about the outcome,” she said Thursday during a press conference at the Washington-based crisis lender’s annual meetings.

Lagarde called for “people first … business second” in the considerations of negotiators.

She raised a need for “clarity on the timetable and better certainty on the three pillars, which are the beginning of the negotiations, would help reducing this uncertainty” over the Brexit talks.
